The Franciscan monastery of Kyritz, first mentioned in 1303 and located on the north-western edge of the historic old town, was once one of the most important in the Mark Brandenburg. In the next few years, the area will be developed into the cultural center Klosterviertel Kyritz. A visit is already worthwhile today: the local history association has set up an exhibition on local history in one of the buildings. In the church and monastery garden, visitors can immerse themselves in the past and enjoy architecture, nature and culture. The renovated north wall of the monastery church, the gate house, the city and monastery walls and the garden pavilion offer a unique backdrop for exhibitions and a wide variety of open-air events: theater plays and readings, dance and concerts, markets and festivals.
