The Karthane circular trail leads along the River Karthane – a tributary of the River Elbe – and provides some lovely views into the lowland landscape of the river and the Elbe wetlands. The information panels present the history of the river and the improvement and use of the Karthane lowlands. After visiting the village or Rühstädt, famous for its storks, the path leads back via Gälow and Groß Lüben to Bad Wilsnack.

  • Public transport: Take the IC2072 (Westerland) from Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) to Wittenberge. From here, continue by taking the RE2 (Cottbus) to Bad Wilsnack (about 1 hour).
  • Car: From Berlin, take the A111, A10, A24, B167 and the B5 to Bad Wilsnack (about 2 hours)

Route: Bad Wilsnack, Rühstädt, Bälow, Groß Lüben, Bad Wilsnack

  • Former pilgrimage church of St. Nikolai with Shrine of the Miraculous Blood
