The focus is on the prehistory of the Prignitz, which ranges from the Stone Age through the Bronze Age and Iron Age to the Slavs. Furthermore, the town history of Perleberg with a special focus on the Middle Ages. In addition, the medieval art of the Prignitz and rural life in the Prignitz. The focus of rural life is primarily on the topics of handicrafts, settlement of the Prignitz and village structures. Some of the exhibition areas are clearly furnished in the manner of period rooms, for example in a completely preserved Perleberger merchant's shop, a Biedermeier room and a farmer's kitchen and parlour.
