The clock tower was built in 1928/29 as a water tower to supply the SINGER sewing machine factory. The clock in the tower is still one of the largest tower clocks on the European mainland. However, the original master clockwork no longer exists. The clock is controlled by radio from the Braunschweig Institute of Physics.

In an exhibition, visitors can learn a lot about sewing machine production and the life and work of the employees at the factory. Original sewing, knitting and ironing machines are on display. On the upper floor there are changing special exhibitions and a panoramic view over Wittenberge and the Elbtalaue biosphere reserve.

Small souvenirs and refreshments are available in the museum shop.
