The flow of the river is fairly level across the Biosphere Reserve River Landscape Elbe and so there is a relatively large area for the water to spread during times of flooding. This is what has saved the village of Bälow from flooding on several occasions. This viewpoint allows you to realise the spectacular extent and effect of the floods. The observation tower offers a great view of the area. The rest area is also suitable for larger groups with bicycles.
