Here, where the River Elbe winds in a big arc towards the former inner German border, you will find the Weichholzaue Cumlosen softwood floodplain forest. At the end of a jetty, you feel as if you have travelled back in time to a jungle-like setting. It is hard to imagine that the entire area around the river must have looked like this before settlements were established. Today, this part of the river is one of the few places where floodplain vegetation can still be found. Take a break on one of the benches and relax for a while amid the rich greenery of the softwood floodplain forest.
