“Erlebe das Original”: This bicycle route explores the northwest of Brandenburg in the footsteps of one of Brandenburg’s most famous authors, Theodor Fontane; like no other, he is associated with the exploration of Mark Brandenburg. The main FONTANE.RAD route has eight one-day stages, which take you through the Brandenburg Lake District, the eastern Prignitz region and the Havelland region from Oranienburg to Potsdam. A tour of Fontane’s birth town of Neuruppin, seven other one-day tours and two variants of the main route take you from Neuruppin to Neustadt (Dosse) and from Werder (Havel) to Brandenburg an der Havel. Information panels in some 60 Fontane locations invite you to take a break and offer tips and information about Fontane’s stories about Mark Brandenburg.
