The first stage of the Berlin - Copenhagen Cycle Route is 50 kilometres long and takes you from Berlin-Mitte to Oranienburg. First you pass the sights of Berlin such as the Brandenburg Gate. You continue along the River Havel via and then to Hennigsdorf. From there it’s just a stone’s throw to Oranienburg and its 17th century palace.

How to get back: From Oranienburg take the RE5 (Wünsdorf-Waldstadt) to Berlin central station (about 30 minutes).

Route: Berlin Museum Island, Brandenburg Gate, Westhafen (Western Harbour), Zentraler Festplatz event area, Wasserstadtbrücke bridge in Spandau, Bürger Ablage bathing area, Nieder Neuendorf, Hennigsdorf, Stolpe waterworks, Birkenwerder, Briese, Borgsdorf, Oranienburg
