From Gransee, the Stechlinsee Cycle Path leads partially along a historic railway line through Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park to Lake Stechlinsee, which is steeped in legend and is the largest freshwater lake in North Germany.

The Stechlinsee Cycle Path has a lot to offer: Freshwater lakes, beautiful beech forests, secluded bathing areas. But what use are a load of words; just go and have a look. As is often said so beautifully: on the trail of Theodor Fontane, yes we cross his carriage path (Krumme Damm).

Length: 40 kilometres (2.5 hours)

Start: Gransee / Finish: Fürstenberg/Havel

Logo/route sign: The tour runs along the junction signposting and connects the junctions as follows: Gransee railway station -24- 23 - 22 - 45 - 36 - 34 - small loop through Menz - 33 - 32, from there in a large clockwise loop through Neuglobsow, via Fontanestraße into the centre, to the Stechlinsee lake, to the glassmakers' house and to the Fontanehaus - back to 32 - 31 - 49 - 50 and in direction 51 to Fürstenberg/Havel railway station.

How to get there: Take the RE5 from Berlin central station to Gransee (about 1 hour). 

Return journey: From Fürstenberg/Havel take the RE5 to Berlin central station (about 1 hour).

Route: Gransee, Schulzendorf, Wolfsruh, Großwoltersdorf, Menz, Neuglobsow, Fürstenberg/Havel
