If you wish to discover Brandenburg through Fontane’s eyes in a short time, take this day tour around Lake Ruppiner See. The first stop after Neuruppin is Wustrau, to which the first chapter of Fontane’s Walks through the Brandenburg Marches is dedicated. Wustrau impressed Fontane with its rustic beauty: along the route there is a whole series of Fontane locations. The detour to Radensleben has a special feature: behind the church there is a Campo Santo – a cemetery designed according to the Italian model. At the next stop in Karwe, the old park belonging to the von dem Knesebeck family has been reconstructed based on the original, while Gnewikow features an impressive manor house. Wuthenow is a charming village, and there is also a detour to Wulkow.
