The tour’s start and finish are interchangeable; they both have canoe stations. The tour can be extended to about 65 kilometres, 4 to 5 days as a circular route via Lychen and back to Fürstenberg/Havel. There is a cycle path connecting the two places. This tour takes you along the region’s main artery, over lakes and a section of the Obere Havel through stunning countryside and settlements. In addition to testimonies of times gone by, this tour tells stories of a long relationship between humans and the river.

How to get there:

  • by train and bus: Take the RE5 (Neubrandenburg) from Berlin central station to Fürstenberg / Havel (about 1 hour).

  • by car: From Berlin via the A111 and B96 to Fürstenberg / Havel (about 1.5 hours).

Return journey:


  • by train and bus: Take the RB12 from Templin to Oranienburg. Continue from here by taking the RE5 (Elsterwerda) to Berlin Central Railway Station (about 1.5 hours).

  • by car: From Templin, ZOB, take bus no. 517 to Fürstenberg to the car (about 1 hour).

Canoe rental: There are several canoe rental businesses at the start and finish point and along the extension via Lychen.
