The brick church in the centre of the village, which is not a protected monument, was built in 1739 after the old church fell victim to fire. This building still stands today.

The priest, Wegener, who liked to read and write, was particularly upset by the fire of 1727. He wrote: “… On May 1 I unfortunately … learned of this tragedy when, at 6:30 a.m. in the morning in the parish, smoke was rising near the big chimney, which eventually broke out into flames and soon burned the rectory and stables to ashes, whereby I suffered significant damages and in particular lost over 300 books and lots of writings...” The building dating from 1739 still stands today. The church tower burned down again in 1843 and was built in its current form in 1861.
