Entering the massive fieldstone church on the village green of Mildenberg, you find yourself in a brightly plastered hall with blue accentuations. It radiates calm and contemplation as well as a certain air of solemnity. The church has been located at this site since the 13th century and was renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries. The curved tower roof has had to be re-covered several times – most recently in 1998 with natural slate, replacing the bitumen slate used in the previous renovation.

One of the church’s gems is the wooden baptismal font decorated with carved fruit tendrils. It dates back to approximately 1600. Only one of the window panes survived the last war: a stained glass window from 1656 that depicts St. Andrew. The organ was built by W. Remler in Berlin and was completed in 1864. In 2006 it was restored by the organ builders Wolter of Dresden.

The church is a member of the “Open Church” initiative and is open to visitors. Information and keys are available at the rectory in Mildenberg, Dorfstrasse 22, Telephone +49 3307 2494.
