It was built between 1190 and 1250 and is therefore not only one of the oldest sights in the village, but also one of the oldest churches in the Mark Brandenburg.

In terms of architectural style, it is a simple hall church made of fieldstones.

In 1517 the priest portal was walled up in the course of the Reformation. Until 1821 the village church had only a ridge turret in which two bells and the clock were located, only in 1822 a church tower was added. Two bells from 1534 and 1652 are still preserved, another one was needed for military purposes during World War II and was dismantled. This was replaced by a new bell in 1954. The organ in the gallery was completed in 1859.

The roof truss was renewed from 1972 - 1973, further extensive restoration work took place between 1994 - 2004.

In addition to church services, the village church of Stolpe is nowadays especially known for its church concerts and evening music.
