Bärbel Backwitz has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the history of Neuglobsow – among other things she herself was involved in establishing the museum at the Glasmacherhaus. No wonder Ms. Backwitz has plenty to say about the hands-on entrepreneur Johanna Luise Pirl – the woman who founded a glassworks in Neuglobsow in the 18th century. But this knowledgeable village guide can also tell you about other distinctive features of the village – from the numerous half-timbered glassblowers’ houses to the legends and myths surrounding Lake Stechlinsee.
Guided tours last about 1.5 hours and are usually done on foot from the bus park to Lake Stechlinsee. The tour is adapted to individual interests and take place with a minimum of two persons. Ms. Backwitz also offers guided tours of the village for larger groups. Ms. Backwitz’s programme also covers other towns such as Meseberg and Zernikow as well as the Strittmatter memorial.
