Marking: Square with green dot on white background and square with yellow dot on white background

Arrival/departure:

By car: A10 motorway (northern Berliner Ring) at the Oranienburg junction, then follow the B96 to Fürstenberg/Havel. In Fürstenberg take the K6515 to Himmelpfort as far as Zur Hasenheide 14.

Public transport: RE 5 (from Berlin main station or from Stralsund or Rostock) to Fürstenberg/Havel main station. From here to the bus station (1 min. walk) change to bus 839 in the direction of Bredereiche. The bus stops in Himmelpfort at Zur Hasenheide 14.

Route: Himmelpfort - Moderfitzsee - Haussee - Moderfitzsee - Himmelpfort

Route description:

The starting point of the hike is the car park "Zur Hasenheide", located directly next to the Himmelpforter Chocolaterie. The route is marked with a green dot on a white background in a square shape and a yellow dot on a white background in a square shape. We walk towards the road and turn left on the opposite side. After a short distance, we reach a wooden sculpture on the straw bridge. It shows a monk carrying a girl wrapped in straw. According to legend, the young lady was to be smuggled into the monastery. You can find out how the story ended on the spot. At this point, follow the hiking trail further to the left so that the lake is on the right. The green dot on a white background is our signposting. The path is a combined cycle and car road. On reaching the village of Pian, the path turns right through the small settlement. At the end of Pian, the path turns right onto a natural surface. Follow the path to the point where the Hausseeweg and Moderfitzseeweg paths meet. From here, follow the Hausseeweg (yellow dot on a white background in a square shape). The path leads us past the Pian bathing beach in the direction of the Woblitz bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path behind the bridge, which turns off to the right. You are now on the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle path. The hiking trail turns right a little later and now follows a wooded route to Himmelpfort, which is not in sight of the lake. Himmelpfort is then reached again. The path leads through the village past the lock. Between Santa's museum and the monastery ruins, you turn back towards the Haussee. The path is still marked with a yellow dot on a white background. Within sight of the bridge "Zur Schmalung". At this point, Moderfitzsee and Hausse are connected and you return to the Moderfitzsee circular trail (trail markings: green dot on a white background). The path leads back to the wooden sculpture of the monk and from there to the car park. Shortly before you reach the monk, there is a bathing area and a rest area where you can take a break. Along the entire circular route, there are always different views of the waters, which are fascinating. Fauna and flora add to the fascination.

Things to see in Himmelpfort: Chocolaterie, Santa's post office and Christmas house, monastery ruins, monastery herb garden
