The Börnersee is one of the three lakes in Borgsdorf that was created as a former clay pit from 1850 onwards for the brick manufacture in Borgsdorf.

Since 2021, the Börnersee is listed as an official bathing water, so that regular examinations of the water quality take place.

An upgraded trail around the lake and a green area invite visitors to unwind and relax. Visitors will also find an information board as well as a former cogwheel from the clay pier that was found in 2021 during the clearing of the lake.
