The beautiful and secluded natural bathing area called Prinzenbad on the Lake Rheinsberger See is not far from the E10 long-distance hiking trail near Forsthaus Boberow. The name of the bathing area is probably derived from the history of this area: Prince Henry lived in Rheinsberg House from 1753 to 1802. The forest with its beech woods was particularly dear to his heart, and in 1753/54 he had seven “Einsiedeleyen” or hermitages built – simple wooden houses covered with tree bark for informal stays in the summer. A little later on, also in the 18th century, the forester’s lodge Forsthaus Boberow was built. Its secluded location made it suitable for use by the GDR state security service, which operated here from 1978 until the fall of the Wall. Today the facility houses comfortable holiday apartments.
On the way to the Prinzenbad bathing area you pass the forester’s lodge. There is also a car park near the bathing area. From there, continue along the wide sandy path towards Warenthin, keeping to the right at the turn-off towards the lake until the path leads to a hidden sandy beach and the view opens up over the whole of Lake Rheinsberger See.
