The lock is part of the Müritz-Havel Waterway and is between Lake Labussee and Lake Canower See. The first lock was built here in the 1830s. The lock is one of many that make the connection between the River Havel and Müritz possible. With increasing water tourism in the Mecklenburg and Brandenburg Lakelands, the lock is one of the most frequented in the region. The lock is operated on site. The Eberswalde Water and Shipping Office is responsible.
