Start / Finish: Beeskow railway station / Fürstenwalde railway station
Length / Duration: 36 kilometres / 3 - 4 hours

The tour starts in Beeskow, where you can bring your bike from Berlin on the RE1 via Frankfurt (Oder) and the RB 36. Once there, we recommend a tour of the time-honoured town before setting off on the route. The former moated castle from the 13th century offers a sensational view of the surrounding area from its 27 metre high keep. Today, Beeskow Castle houses the archive for former GDR art as well as numerous events for those interested in culture. The historic market square, the long town wall and St Mary's Church bear witness to medieval tradition.

The cycle tour now leads directly along the calmly flowing Spree. The flat route is not strenuous and gives you plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of the river and the riverside landscape with its marvellous nature. The places you cycle through are strung together like a string of pearls. It can happen that otters, foxes or herons dart past the banks as you cycle through the area with your eyes wide open. Behind the Kersdorf bridge, there is a beautiful view of Lake Kersdorf. The Oder-Spree Canal, which flows directly behind it, can be crossed on an impressive wooden bridge for cyclists. The Landgasthof Spreetal with its beer garden and delicious cakes in Berkenbrück is well worth a stop. Here you can refresh yourself from the tour with a dip in the Spree. At the end of the stage, you should definitely plan time for a visit to Fürstenwalde Cathedral.

Sights along the route:
  • Oldest house Beeskow
  • St. Mary's Cathedral Fürstenwalde
  • Fürstenwalde Brewery Museum
  • Beeskow Castle with music museum
  • Kersdorf lock

Culinary recommendation along the route:

  • Genuss Werk Stadt
  • Iceguerilla
  • Country inn Spreetal
  • Restaurant Zunfthaus 383
  • Restaurant Bischofsschloss
