This tour optionally takes you along the Buckower narrow gauge museum railway from Müncheberg to Waldsieversdorf. Müncheberg is the gateway to the Märkische Schweiz region and can look back on a long history. A visit to the town centre, which is almost completely surrounded by the town wall built from 1319 onwards, takes you back to the time of the Middle Ages. The two town gates with their fortified towers, the Berlin and Küstrin tower gates, are silent witnesses of this era. The town wall is the home to an Ice Age gallery, a large part of the wall with 27 boulders of Scandinavian origin. A church founded by the Cistercians in the 13th century is of particular architectural interest. It was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in the early 1990s. A unique building houses the town library and an event room, both accessible by lift. You can cycle to Waldsieversdorf, a state-approved resort that was newly established in the hills overlooking the Däbersee lakes. A landmark of the municipality is the old water tower, which now serves as an observation tower. Waldsieversdorf also had a summer visitor, the internationally renowned photo artist John Heartfield. He had a summerhouse built near his friend Bertolt Brecht on Lake Däbersee.
