This “racing bike” tour will push you to your limits - not just in terms of speed. Although you will cycle on Polish territory for half of the tour. Speedy cyclists will find the best conditions to pedal hard “on both sides of the Oder River” on this 91-kilometre round trip.

Take the ferry from Güstebieser Loose across the Oder River to Gazdowice, then cycle through Czellin, the small town of Mieszkowice, Sarbinowo and Kostrzyn back over the border river. On the German side, the route mainly takes you on the Oder-Neiße Cycle Path, but also through Bleyen and Kienitz.

Length: 91 kilometres (Brandenburg section - 44 kilometres)

Start / finish: Golzow

How to get there:
  • Train: Take the S5 line of the S-Bahn (rapid transit train) from Berlin Zoologischer Garten to Strausberg. From here, take the RB26 (Kostrzyn) regional train to Golzow (about 2 hours).
  • Car: Take the B1 from Berlin to Golzow (about 1 hour).

Route: Golzow, Genschmar, Sophienthal, Kienitz, Groß Neuendorf, Güstebieser Loose, and with the ferry to Poland, Czelin, Mieskowice, Sarbinowo to Küstrin, Bleyen, Gorgast, Golzow

Points of interest / background information:

  • Gorgast: the best preserved outer fort of the Küstrin Fortress
  • Golzow: Museum about the long-running documentary “The Children of Golzow”

Trail conditions / surface: The route is mainly flat. Most of the asphalted roads and cycle paths are hardly used.
