A canoe trip from the Schlaubetal boat hire on the Oder-Spree Canal combined with a hike along the Müllrose lakes offers active recreation and a variety of nature experiences on and around the water.

Start/finish: Schlaubetal boat hire, Müllrose, Biegener Straße 1

Duration/length:

Canoe: 1 hour/3 kilometres

Hike: Haus Katharinensee – Großer Müllroser See circular trail – Kietz – Kleiner Müllroser See – Schiffbauerstraße: 2.5 hours / 10 kilometres

Arrival/departure: Car arrival and departure to Müllrose, A12 Müllrose exit; bus & train

Description:

After getting into the canoe, you will be sharing the Oder-Spree Canal waterway with other traffic for a short distance of 600 metres, before reaching the calm waters of the idyllic Katharinengraben and continuing on to Lake Katharinensee. On its shore, you can take a break at the Gasthaus am Katharinensee restaurant with its beautiful outdoor terrace and swim at the hotel's own beach with sunbathing lawn. Afterwards, we recommend a hike along the Großer Müllroser See circular trail. Via Bahnhofstraße and Seeallee, you reach the outdoor swimming pool on the eastern shore of the lake and start this charming tour to the market, the Müllroser Mühle mill and the lake promenade, where you can say goodbye to the lake with a magnificent view. The return route takes you back to Kietz with its Schlaubetal information centre and nature park house, over the small Schlaubebrücke bridge to the Kleiner Müllroser See lake. In Schiffbauerstraße, the historic fire station from 1925 with its wooden hose tower and a small exhibition on the history of the fire brigade and shipbuilding in Müllrose is well worth seeing.

Tip: Boat hire + return transport Canoe: Schlaubetal boat hire

Places to stop for refreshments:

Gasthaus ‘Am Kanal’, Frankfurter Straße

Restaurant ‘Haus Katharinensee’, Bahnhofstraße

‘Marktrestaurant’, market

Snack bar at Schlaubetal boat hire, Biegener Straße
