The clocks seem to tick even slower around here. The unspoilt nature of this corner of the world was appreciated even by the Prussian rulers, who built classy country estates in the area, to be able to taking in the tranquillity of the many little waterways. How to get there: From Berlin via the B1 to Quappendorf (about 1.5 hours).

Route: Quappendorf, Quappendorfer Kanal, Friedländer Strom, Wriezener Alte Oder, Wriezen, Hauptgraben from Bochows to Herrenhof, Letschiner Hauptgraben, Golzow, Förster See, Alte Oder, Gorgast

Stops on the shore:
  • Neuhardenberg: Castle
  • Altfriedland: Church ruins
  • Rest area Kundersdorf: Muses’ court
  • Alttrebbin and Neutrebbin
  • Wriezen: Emperor’s market (once a year)


Nautical information: Portage points:

  • Altfriedländer Teiche
  • Bochows Loos
  • The canoe must be carried across three more portage points before reaching the destination Gorgast.
