There are no documents regarding the year of construction of the granite church. It is known that the church was completely destroyed in a fire in 1676 and was inaugurated again, four years later. The earliest entries in the church register are from 1707. The vestry was renovated in 2012: the foundation was sealed, the outside stonework was replaced and the roof beams were repaired in parts.
