The impressive town church that is located directly on the market square, was built in the mid-15th century as a Gothic brick building. It is assumed that the site was home to a simple wooden chapel before the church was built. The church features a main nave and a side aisle on the southern side. The interior was comprehensively renovated between 1912 and 1913.

A particularly attractive feature are the stellar vaults. Tall windows let in plenty of light to illuminate the chancel. The pulpit and the main altar with the Communion picture date back to 1622. The baptismal font from the second half of the 13th century is likely to have been part of the original equipment of the predecessor church.

Two pictures of the child Caspar von Uchtenhagen deserve particular attention. The boy is holding a pear in one of the pictures, which is a reference to the child eventually dying of poisoning. The von Uchtenhagen family played an essential role in shaping the history of the town Bad Freienwalde. The entire interior of the organ was replaced by the Sauer company in 1976, while the organ case was designed by Joachim Wagner back in 1728.
