The granite building from the 13th and 14th century is among Brandenburg’s oldest places of worship, and it was badly damaged during the Thirty Years' War. Work to rebuilt the church was taken up several decades after the end of the war. The original tower was torn down in this context and the half-timbered ridge turret that exists to this date was added. The date 1719 is likely to refer to this repair work.

Its medieval origin remains well-visible inside the church: The light enters the roughly plastered and simply designed interior through three narrow lancet windows. The floor is made of red tiles.
