It was at the end of the 19th century that Baron August von Eckardstein commissioned a special building. At that time, the aristocratic entrepreneur already had a very precise project in mind. Inspired by English country estates in the Tudor style, Eckardstein had Reichenow Palace constructed in a period of just three years. Since its completion in 1900, the stately building has remained virtually unchanged to this day. Battlements, loggias and corner towers give the palace an unmistakable character. Original wall tiles, ceiling panelling and floor coverings round off the regal flair of this magnificent building. So it’s hardly surprising that a whole ensemble of actors gathered at Reichenow Palace to film an imaginative children’s series.

Detlev Buck and his team assembled in Reichenow to shoot Bibi & Tina – Die Serie – and not only did they shoot this Amazon Prime Video series, they also spent the night under the historic roof of the palace. Actor and director Buck was already familiar with the region from previous productions, since the third and fourth feature film of the successful Bibi & Tina series were likewise shot in the Seenland Oder-Spree lakeland region. 

For Bibi & Tina – Die Serie, Reichenow Palace became Falkenstein Castle: the makers realised that Reichenow Palace bore a striking resemblance to the castle in the Bibi Blocksberg cartoon adaptation. In the series Count Falko von Falkenstein resides in this imposing building and ponders over his wicked machinations in the surrounding park.

Reichenow Palace has been excellently preserved despite being used in various different ways. Today it is a hotel and restaurant. The adjoining landscape park with the lake Lange See is a wonderful place to rest and relax in idyllic surroundings – after an extensive hike through the region, for instance. The popular hiking trail Fontanewanderweg also runs past here.
