With a water depth of up to 16 metres, eel, perch, bream, grass carp, pike, carp, roach, rudd, catfish, zander and some burbot feel at home here, along with other fish species. The management of this reed-fringed lake is taken care of by Fischereibetrieb Martin Rinast in Strausberg. Please note: In some cases, different closed seasons and minimum dimensions apply as compared to DAV waters

Rental boats are available for hire on the western side of the lake, but combustion engines are not allowed on Lake Bötzsee. Night fishing is allowed but requires an additional permit. The entire lake can be circumnavigated by following an extended hiking trail (approximately 2.5 hours). Swimmers have priority at the bathing spots during the bathing season. It is possible to fish from a boat without disruption, however. It is worth casting off reed edges with artificial bait to get pike and perch on the line. From an anchored boat you can also catch a good number of whitefish on the sloping edges. Lake Bötzsee also enjoys a good reputation for ice anglers in the winter.
