You might say that Katja is Helene's little sister. To be precise: the 30-hectare Lake Katjasee is connected to the much larger Lake Helenesee by means of a channel-like neck. Anglers will find plenty of peace and quiet at Lake Katjasee and can look forward to a well-balanced fish population. eel, perch, bream, pike, crucian carp, roach, tench and rudd are the main fish species – and some of them are absolutely dream sizes. Bait fishers have reported enormous roaches and bream patrolling the edges of the deeper waters (up to over 20 metres). Tench are just as regular prey as carp, which can be caught at good individual weights here. In spring, the southern shore is the number-one spot for bait fishers. But pike anglers can also be successful here by systematically casting artificial bait along the edges of the large weed fields. You will often find perch lurking here, so both species can be caught with smaller bait.

The shores in the other parts of the lake quickly drop to greater depths, but the edges are always worth a try. Unfortunately, Lake Katjasee is very difficult to fish from the shore due to a lack of suitable fishing spots. What is more, access is difficult and involves a long walk. Boats can be rented at the main shore of Lake Helenesee.

One especially good fishing area is the mouth of the connection to the north-western section of the lake. Here you can always see eel anglers with worm or bait fish sitting waiting for wigglers of up to one metre in length – definitely a fine catch.

Pike and perch can be caught in the open water. Pike anglers use large bait to catch large specimens of more than one metre in length. In the evening, pike often come close to the surface, while during the day they have to be hunted down in the deeper areas. Artificial bait and bait fish are equally successful on Lake Katjasee.
