The lakes Kleiner and Großer Glubigsee together form the Glubigsee chain and are picturesquely nestled in the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park. With a total area of around 71.6 hectares, of which around 58 hectares are accounted for by the Großer Glubigsee, the lakes offer a varied natural backdrop for anglers and nature lovers.

A popular water hiking tour starts in Wendisch Rietz on Lake Scharmützelsee and leads across the Großer Glubigsee to the nature campsite at the southern tip of the Springsee. Motorboats are not permitted here, which enhances the tranquil atmosphere of the lake landscape. There are freely accessible jetties on the south-eastern shore of the Großer Glubigsee, and the 66-lake hiking trail runs along the eastern shore - a delightful hiking route through the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region.

Fish species and fishing opportunities

The municipal waters of Wendisch Rietz are known primarily for carp and pike. Fishing permits can be purchased directly from the tourist information office in Wendisch Rietz (address: Kleine Promenade 1, 15864 Wendisch Rietz).
