Fishing in the navigable Löcknitz is like classic canal fishing. West of the A10 motorway bridge you will find the much more unspoilt section of the Löcknitz: towards Werlsee both banks are lined with private properties.

On the straightened banks, it quickly becomes a waterway where ground bait should be applied. Float fishing can be difficult due to the regular passage of sport boats. Ground fishing – or better still feed basket fishing – is the first choice for shore fishing. Rudd, roach and bream regularly take the hook, but tench and carp swim up and down the Löcknitz, too. If you choose fishing spots that break with the homogeneous course of the canal, you’ll be well on your way to a big catch.
  • Fish species: rudd, roach, common bream, perch, catfish, pike, carp, eel, zander, tench
  • Tenant/operator: Fischereibetrieb Bernd Lupe

  • Sale of fishing permits: Fischereibetrieb Bernd Lupe, Gerhard-Hauptmann Strasse 72, 15537 Grünheide OT Kagel, telephone +49 33434 71112

Spinners, spoon lures and plugs are perfect for catching medium-sized pike and perch, while zander fishers opt for rubber fish held close to the ground. Sometimes, noisy predatory asps can be heard on the surface of the water: immediately throw out a flat-running lure of finger length and roll it in quickly! Often the asp takes it after just a few turns of the spool, causing the roller brake to screech.

After dark, eels sneak through the Löcknitz in search of their prey. Thanks to the fact that there is less shipping traffic, it is now possible to fish using an illuminated float. Worms, small bait fish and rag bait not only bring eels to the surface – nocturnal zander don’t like to miss out on the opportunity, either.
