Lake Springsee is part of the Glubigsee lake chain, which extends from Grubensee along to Melangsee, Großer Glubigsee, Kleiner Glubigsee and then Scharmützelsee. This chain of lakes was formed from a glacial meltwater channel many thousands of years ago. What has remained is Lake Springsee: a 60-hectare lake which has a depth of 19 metres and very clear water. The local divers love the good underwater view – anglers hold it somewhat in awe. If you want to return home triumphantly from Lake Springsee, you should use inconspicuous tackle and choose a slightly finer line.

The shores of Lake Springsee are entirely surrounded by forest, and drop off quickly into deeper water. Up to a depth of about four metres there are marked weed fields in places that often provide shelter for pike – a fish that can reach impressive sizes here. The shores are easier to fish from a boat, but there are also several beautifully located shore fishing spots at Lake Springsee. The main fish species are: eel, perch, pike, carp, tench, catfish, zander, whitefish
  • Size/depth: 59.2 hectares, 19 metres
  • Tenant/operator: Seenfischerei Matthias Gödicke, Am Kleinen Glubigsee 31, 15864 Wendisch Rietz
  • Fish species: pike, perch, carp
  • Sale of fishing permits: Fisch-Haus, Halbinsel am Glubigsee, 15864 Wendisch Rietz or at the tourist information office in Haus des Gastes in Wendisch Rietz.

There are combined permits for Lakes Springsee, Melangsee and Bremsdorfer See.

Bait fishers keep to the shoreline. Carp, tench and all kinds of whitefish migrate along here and can be caught with running floats and ground bait. After dusk, the eels also go out in search of prey, venturing into shallower waters along the shore.

One practical point: the natural campsite on the south-west shore of Lake Springsee issues fishing permits and also hires out rowing boats on which to explore the lake. And not just Lake Springsee! You can reach the northern part of Lake Großer Glubigsee via a narrow stream that can be navigated by fishing barge. Even the trip through this wooded connecting section is quite an experience. Now and then even perch and pike are caught in the shallow channel.
