This stroll through the ups and downs of the imagination began in the summer of 2012 in the quiet spot of Regenmantel – situated just outside the 700-year-old municipality of Falkenhagen.

Since then, TRAFO.1 – the smallest gallery in Brandenburg – has offered a view of works by artists from the region and beyond through a window and at the touch of a button, inviting hikers and anyone interested to discover and enjoy the wonderful world of art here in the solitude of this natural idyll.

The trail was extended in August 2013: in Dolgelin – 11 kilometres away from Regenmantel – you can cycle past Komturei Lietzen to Galerie TRAFO.2. An old weighing station dating back to 1958 – likewise saved from decay – now houses Galerie TRAFO.2.

The works of one artist are shown simultaneously at both galleries. Rustic works of art and seating elements in wood, created by gallery owner Karl Witzleben, are set up in front of the two galleries for visitors to look at and enjoy.

Art in places where nobody would expect it, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – this is the idea of TRAFO.1+2 and the members of the association Kunstregen e.V. And the trail continues – from March 2016 with TRAFO.3 in Reitwein!
