The Henzendorf Foundlings Park is located on the way from Henzendorf to the heath, on the edge of the wildly romantic Schlaubetal Nature Park.

The Schlaubetal valley attracts thousands of nature lovers at all times of the year with its diverse natural features including unspoilt forests with numerous streams and rivers as well as extensive swamps, meadows and heaths that contrast with the numerous woodland areas. The southern areas were cut off from civilisation and were largely left unspoilt, mainly due to the fact that area was previously used a military training ground. This created ideal conditions for the uninterrupted expansion of the heathlands on dry and nutrient-poor sandy soils. This makes Henzendorfer Heide a worthwhile destination for nature lovers, as part of Schlaubetal Nature Park. It is particularly beautiful in August and September when the heather blossoms, covering the flat ground like a purple carpet. From the observation tower you have a fantastic view over the vast expanse of the heath.

On the way from Henzendorf to the heath is Findlingspark. It was not created by the ice age, but by human hand. Embedded in a wild, romantic landscape it is a wonderful place to spend time, dream and relax. With its impressive boulder ensemble it has become one of the most popular regional destinations for a day out near the municipality of Henzendorf. In fine weather especially it attracts many people travelling by bicycle or car who love to picnic here. Another very popular option is take a horse-drawn carriage ride across the hilly, stony terrain with its more than 2,000 boulders, pagan deities and rune tablets. At the entrance to the park there is a display panel with information about the open-air exhibition. Huge boulders are still being recovered from the Lusatian open-cast mines: these are subsequently made available to the boulder park for further processing. Initiated by sculptor Ulrich Thiel, a time line of mankind’s development set in stone can be admired along the field path between Henzendorf and the heath.

Artists from Poland and Berlin have created artistic statues, reliefs, mystical figures and paintings based on the model of Celtic and Hittite stonemasonry. These works also seek to represent 2,000 years of contemporary history. The worked and unworked boulders have been placed in an area of 4 hectares.
