The Fontanepark is located directly by Lake Scharmützelsee in Bad Saarow. The  Fontanepark is an artificial peninsula. At the end of the 19th century there was a brickyard in the immediate vicinity. The overburden from the clay pits and brick remains were simply dumped into the lake. On the occasion of the Fontane anniversary in 2019, the peninsula overgrown with deciduous forest was equipped with 16 panels with Fontane quotes. The art object "Blick ins Nichts" (“view into nothingness”) is located at the footbridge.

Theodor Fontane walked past here during his walk through Mark Brandenburg in 1881. He arrived at the harbour from the direction of Pechhütte (today a restaurant) through the Rauener Mountains and continued on to the village of Saarow.
