Teufelsstein - a legacy from the Ice Age

The Schlaubetal Nature Park is a popular hiking area in all seasons. In addition to a diverse flora and fauna, there is always something exciting to discover along the way.

The Ice Age, which formed the Schlaubetal, left behind a fairytale landscape and huge stone witnesses. The second largest boulder, which was transported here from Scandinavia, is only 2 km from Treppeln. A path leads directly from the village to the Teufelsstein. Surrounded by birch and pine trees, the 4 m long, 2.8 m wide and 1.8 m high colossus is located.

According to a legend, a farmer wanted to remove this gigantic stone from his field. It didn't help any effort and blundering. Then he made a pact with the devil and sold him his soul. He then took the stone and threw it with full force over the Klautzkesee, where it has remained to this day. Even today, the horse stage and the devil's human claw can be seen in the stone.

If you are looking for a cozy little spot for a picnic, you have made a good choice here in the shade of tall trees. Far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can recharge your batteries here and listen to the voices of the forest.

Treppeln a small village, which is lined with an old avenue of trees, is the eastern gate to the Schlaubetal. The "Mönchstour" and "Oder-Spreetour" cycle paths lead through the village.
