Eisenhüttenstadt is an industrial planned city that was the first socialist city to be built entirely on the drawing board in 1950. In no other city can all the epochs of the architectural and urban planning history of the former GDR be experienced. Eisenhüttenstadt is an outstanding example of a newly founded town in the style of the national building tradition of the 1950s, which has been placed under protection as an area monument. Eisenhüttenstadt is a nostalgic journey back in time to the history of the GDR.

The various guided tours through the unique planned town of Einsenhüttenstadt are very popular and can be booked all year round. Our experienced city guides lead interested visitors and tourists through the three listed residential complexes and provide detailed insights into the special history, architecture and development of the city.

Duration: approx. 2.5 hours and within walking distance.

Guided tours of the historic old town center of Fürstenberg also take place and can be booked. The guided tours can be booked on foot, by bike or nostalgically in a Trabi. The Oder-Neisse Express (Bimmelbahn) is a nice alternative for larger groups.

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, from May to October, there are public guided tours of the town. These start at 10.30 a.m. directly at the tourist information office in Eisenhüttenstadt. All dates are also available on the website and can be booked directly online. All other city tour requests are planned and processed individually on request and are possible on all days of the week.
