The route starts at the historic market square near the baroque parish church and the Haus des Gastes with the local history museum and the Schlaubetal information center. In the center of the market square is a war memorial dedicated to the citizens of Müllrose who fell during the war years 1866 to 1871.

Along the 3-lake path, the first steps lead towards the train station, past the Müllrose mill, which is already mentioned in the town's confirmation document from 1275 and is therefore considered the oldest business in Müllrose. Today, the mill still produces flour from various types of grain. Opposite the mill, the lakeside promenade with a picturesque view of the large Müllrose lake invites you to linger. Another war memorial on the promenade commemorates those who died in the First World War.

The path continues along the Seeallee to Lake Katharinensee. This body of water is the subject of an old legend about a heartless lady of the castle who is said to still be waiting to be rescued from the depths of the lake. The path leads through Wildwinkel past the administrative building of the Schlaubetal office.

Continuing along Bahnhofstraße towards the town center, the route turns into Kohlgartenweg just before the post office. Via Gartenstraße and crossing Frankfurter Straße, you reach Schifbauerstraße, where the historic fire station with hose tower is located. Through the large panoramic windows of the building, you can view two interesting exhibitions on the Müllros fire department, the shipyards and the history of the canal.

This is where the nature trail begins, which provides information about the flora and fauna of the Schlaubetal Nature Park over a distance of around 1.6 km. The route leads behind the central cemetery along Kirchhofgasse to Beeskower Straße.

The way back to the market leads past the oldest and smallest house in the town of Müllrose. Finally, the town hall is on the left opposite the market square. The 3 Lakes Trail ends after around 6 km on the market square.
