How to get there: From Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) take the S5 (Hoppegarten) to Berlin Ostbahnhof. From here, take the RE1 (Frankfurt (Oder)) to Fangschleuse (around 45 minutes).

Return journey: From Hangelsberg take the RE1 to Berlin Ostbahnhof. Continue from here by taking the S7 (Potsdam) Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) (about 45 minutes).

Route: Fangschleuse station, Klein Wall, Hangelsberg station

Route description: Short diversions to visit the pretty towns of Grünheide, Kagel, Kienbaum, Hangelsberg, Mönchwinkel or Spreeau are worthwhile whatever the season. But you should certainly not miss the Löcknitz Campus in Grünheide. This is the habitat of the European pond turtles, which also adorn the town’s coat of arms. Every spring, the little armoured creatures move into the outdoor enclosure on the Campus, to the delight of their visitors. In earlier times, they lived in their thousands in the Löcknitz Valley.

  • Grünheide: Outdoor rope courses

Possible combinations:

  • 66-Lakes Trail
