There is plenty to discover on this short circular walk – You will walk through a fairy-tale forest, discover a desert in the heart of Brandenburg and come across animals and plants that thrive in hot, dry conditions and barren soils. The start and end point of the hiking trail is the 200-year-old oak tree in the village square of the “circular village” of Bugk.

Start/finish: Bugk village square

How to get there:

Train/public transport: from Berlin central station, take the RE2 towards Cottbus as far as Königs Wusterhausen, change to the RB36 towards Müllrose as far as Storkow, continue with the 405 bus towards Groß Eichholz as far as Bugk

Please note: The bus runs Monday to Friday (not public holidays)

Car: from the direction of Berlin, take the A13 towards Dresden, Teupitz exit, continue to Märkisch Buchholz, towards Storkow, following the signs as far as Bugk

Parking is available at the village square in Bugk. 

Route: Bugk, Großer Wucksee, Bugk

Experience nature: 
  • Glienitzberg, the Sahara in the heart of Brandenburg, fairy-tale forest

Underfoot conditions/surface: The routes and paths are all easy to walk on; there is a small upward incline at Glienitzberg only.

Hiking trails in the area:

  • Circular walk to the Waltersberge inland dune
  • Miethsluch near Münchenhofe circular walk


Information about nature conservation projects of the Brandenburg Nature Conservation Fund Foundation in the Kienheide area to east of Bugk.
