This seven-kilometre-long circular walk takes you from the little town of Storkow (Mark) to one of the largest inland dunes in Germany. In addition to interesting sights in Storkow, such as the pretty 14th century town church and the castle, which is over 800 years old, you will learn more about the inland dune and its inhabitants.

Length: 7 kilometres (2 hours)

Start/finish: Storkow station

How to get there:

Train: southbound from Berlin central station, take the RE2 towards Cottbus as far as Königs Wüsterhausen, change to the RB36 towards Müllrose as far as Storkow (travel time around 1.5 hours)

Car: In the direction of Berlin via the A10 towards Frankfurt/Oder to Dreieck Spreeau interchange, continue on the A12 to the Storkow exit, parking available in Storkow.

Route: Storkow, Dahme-Heidesee nature park, Storkow

Experiences of nature: 

Großer Storkower Lake, Waltersberge inland dune viewpoint, open dune areas

Underfoot conditions/surface: The path follows asphalt roads and forest paths.

Hiking trails in the area:
  • Bugk and its “Sahara” circular walk
  • Miethsluch near Münchenhofe
