The Brettersche Graben was dug in 1752 to drain the fields and meadows of the colonists and is part of the former floodplain of the Spree. The ditch begins at the Rathauspark and the hiking trail starts at Seestraße. It leads past green meadows directly to the Spree. Numerous places along the way invite you to linger. Even Gerhart Hauptmann loved to stroll through the loneliness of the Mark Brandenburg forest and be inspired.

Info point StadA sandy path then leads past detached houses, meadows, groups of trees and a variety of flora. You reach Buchhorster Straße. The path is briefly interrupted here before turning right again into the meadows on the other side of the road just before the bridge.

With a view of grazing cows, the trail continues to the Spree. Rest areas invite you to have a picnic and offer views of the extensive Spree meadows. You reach Neu Zittauer Straße through the residential area “Am Schützenwäldchen”. Here there are two options for returning along the same route.

Turn left here and after approx. 350 m turn right again into Wiesenweg, which now leads in the opposite direction to the starting point.

Return route Route 2
