The section between Hangelsberg and Fürstenwalde leads along the Way of St. James. The route passes along the River Müggelspree and provides some beautiful views of the river. In Mönchwinkel there is an attractive bivouac area, which is an ideal place to take a break.

Start: Fangschleuse Grünheide (Mark) / Finish: Fürstenwalde (Spree)

How to get there: From Berlin central station take the RE1 (Frankfurt (Oder)) to Fangschleuse (around 45 minutes).

Return journey: From Fürstenwalde take the RE1 (Magdeburg or Brandenburg an der Havel) to Berlin central station (around 1.5 hours)

Route: Fangschleuse, Mönchwinkel, Hangelsberg, Fürstenwalde

Route description: The route leads mostly through the forest. There is plenty of access to the bank along the River Spree. There are bivouac areas in Mönchwinkel and at the Große Tränke weir.   

Underfoot conditions/surface: Not specified
