  • Far: Bismarck Tower and Carlsburg with fantastic views of Niederoderbruch

  • Relaxed: look like Fontane from the Carlsburg and have a good time in the panorama restaurant

Start & finish: Falkenberg (Mark) station
Length: 11 km / approx. 3-3.5 hours
Arrival Public transport: RE3 from Berlin Hbf or Gesundbrunnen or RB24 from Ostkreuz or Lichtenberg, then RB 60 from Eberswalde to Falkenberg (Mark)
Departure public transport: RB60 from Falkenberg (Mark) to Eberswalde (every hour), then on to Berlin

Up to the Falkenberg heights!

It's almost noon, but your feet itchy? Do you need exercise but do you really want to get into the quiet nature? Then off to the climatic health resort of Falkenberg! In just over an hour with the RE3 or the RB24 from Berlin via Eberswalde, the cute RB60 will bring you to the small community on the hilly Barnim plateau, rich in forests and lakes. Here on the border to the Oderbruch you get out and see the Falkenberger Heights in the background. Passing the Rothen Mühle at the small brook, you go straight into the first ascent.

Over the ridge path to the märkischen Watzmann

You first hike on the Oderlandweg through beautiful forest. Continue on the Kammtrail to the junction to the Bismarck Tower. The 20-minute detour will be worthwhile for you. Around a hundred steps and another 30 meters in altitude via a wooden spiral staircase have to be overcome to the viewing platform. Here you can enjoy the wide view over the hills and gorges of the Oberbarnimer Mountains and the Niederoderbruch with the island of Neuenhagen, the Niederfinow boat lift and the Schorfheide. The view is particularly impressive in autumn, when the dense beech forests in the most beautiful shades of red are inflamed - the Brandenburg “Indian Summer”.

Have you ever been to the Watzmann? No, then quickly get ready for your first ascent! The short detour to Watzmann, located at 1,062 meters above sea level, presents you with an imposing summit cross!

A rewarded prospect

Past the Schmiede and Paschenbergs it goes slowly back towards Falkenberg. You will come to the last highlight of your late riser tour through the rustic, natural beech forest. With the great view of the Carlsburg we stop with Fontane and let the day end relaxed: “What gives it a special charm as a vantage point is the distinctive beauty of the foreground, the village of Falkenberg itself, over its gorges, roofs and towers Glance over to the wide, green area of the quarry. “Enjoy yourself again: the popular excursion restaurant with panorama restaurant offers refreshments and rustic culinary delights from the region.
