Route description

Quiet and secluded: Lake Bötzsee

Lake Bötzsee, a body of water formed during the Ice Age, is a real gem. Nestled in a forest belt and characterized by first-class water quality with visibility of up to four meters, it invites you to enjoy the silence and unwind. Without motorboats, the tranquillity remains undisturbed, while great crested grebes and herons can be observed on the water. In spring, protected wood anemones bloom along the wooded banks, adding a splash of color.

Idyllic east bank

The route starts on the European long-distance hiking trail E11 and later continues along the 66 Lakes Trail. After a section through the Postbruch recreation area with its fields and weekend cottages, you reach the Bötzsee lake. A narrow path meanders along the partly steep shore through shady woodland. Idyllic bathing spots, picnic areas and rope swings offer opportunities to pause and enjoy nature to the full.

Wild west side

On the west side, the route remains close to nature and offers wonderful views. Sometimes directly on the bank, sometimes a little higher up in the forest, dense stands of trees alternate with open sections. The tranquillity and feeling of seclusion make this part of the trail particularly attractive.

Culinary reward

After the hike, Eggersdorf is the perfect place for a relaxing end to the day. The family-friendly Bötzsee lido with its wide sandy beach and various entry points into the water invites you to take a last refreshing dip. Afterwards, the culinary highlights of the region beckon: on the terrace of the Hotel Seeschloss, you can enjoy the view over the lake with an ice cream, while the Osteria Del Maiale Pezzato offers a lively atmosphere with hearty snacks.

A day full of nature and enjoyment

This hike combines the protected beauty of the landscape conservation area with the hidden charms of Lake Bötzsee. The clear, calm water, the wild bathing spots and the idyllic tranquillity create a unique experience. A relaxed finish in Eggersdorf rounds off the tour and leaves nothing to be desired.

Refreshment tips:

  • Eggersdorf: ice cream at the “Seeschloss”, Restaurant Bötz in Villago
