Length: 4.5 kilometer / 1:30 hours

Start / Finish: Treppeln, hikers' car park on the L37 at the junction to Wirchensee (Am Wirchensee)

Logo / trail sign: yellow dot (circular trail)

Arrival / Departure:

Public transport: From Berlin with the RE1 to Jacobsdorf, then with the A400 excursion bus (April - October on weekends and public holidays) to the ‘Treppeln Schlaubemühle’ stop.

Car: From Berlin via the A12 motorway, exit Müllrose and take the L37 country road to the Wirchensee hiking car park (Am Wirchensee)

Directions:

The circular walk around the Wirchensee lake starts at the turn-off to the Waldseehotel (parking lot on the L43) or at the Schlaubemühle mill, which can be reached on the A400 excursion line.

The trail leads through wooded surroundings that change constantly throughout the year - with fresh greenery in spring and colorful foliage in autumn. Numerous steps lead to an elevated vantage point, the “Försterblick”, with an unobstructed view of the lake. With a bit of luck, you may spot white-tailed eagles or ospreys. During the rutting season, the roaring of the deer can be heard.

At the southern end of the lake, the Schlaube flows into the Wirchensee. The source is hidden behind a small bridge in the Wirchenwiesen meadows. The trail then leads back along the western shore. Water birds such as great crested grebes, ducks and swans can be observed on the lake. The Waldseehotel is located on a hill overlooking the lake.

Highlights along the tour:
  • Headland/peninsula Wirchensee
  • Forester's view
  • 200-year-old pine tree
  • Wirchensee bridge over the Schlaube
  • Wirchen meadows
  • western Wirchenberge
  • Restaurant Waldseehotel Wirchensee

Possible combinations:

  • Schlaubetal hiking trail
  • circular hiking trail Schllaubemühle

Tips for refreshments:

  • Restaurant at the Waldseehotel Wirchensee
