This stage is one of the most beautiful sections of the 66 Lakes Trail. At the starting point, Woltersdorf welcomes visitors around the lock and the bascule bridge with plenty of water and a charming holiday atmosphere. In the Löcknitz Valley, nature takes centre stage: quiet paths lead through the forest, past meadows and through the damp floodplains of the nature reserve, accompanied by the gentle murmur of the stream. A walk along rustic paths that you’ll want to do twice: once in spring, once in autumn.

Arrival by public transport: From Berlin main station with the S3 (Rahnsdorf) to Rahnsdorf, then continue with the TRAM 87 (Woltersdorf) to Woltersdorf, Schleuse (approx. 1 hour)

Departure public transport: From Hangelsberg with the RE1 (Brandenburg) to Berlin Central Station (approx. 40 min)

Course: Woltersdorf, Flakensee, Erkner, Wupatzsee, Fangschleuse, Werlsee, Löcknitztal, Hangelsberg






 







Description of the route / worth knowing: The walk begins where the last one ends: at the historic Liebesquelle spring. Walking along Lake Flaken, past the campsite and bathing beach, you reach the point where the Löcknitz flows into the lake. From here on, the little river takes centre stage. Beyond Erkner, it winds its way through the forest, disappears into the thicket and babbles along the edge of damp meadows – all the way to the marshes of its source. The trail follows the stream, sometimes closer to the bank, sometimes at a distance. Farmsteads in the forest, a war memorial, the Fontane pine whose crown has fallen into the Löcknitz, and, just before the end, the trout farm in Klein Wall mark the route. Rest areas and small bridges repeatedly open up new views of the water, the diverse flora and the tranquil surroundings. Beyond Klein Wall, the 66 Lakes Trail leaves the Löcknitz Valley. It heads straight through high forest and across open glades to Hangelsberg station.
