You will encounter the varied and significant history of Frankfurt (Oder) in a variety of ways. Various monuments from the 13th century still bear witness to the former trading and Hanseatic city.

Discover the “hidden treasures” of the city on your tour starting at the Church of the Holy Cross in the western part of the center. The Catholic Church with its four bells and an organ with 46 registers was built in 1897 and consecrated in 1899. In the immediate vicinity you can reach the town hall, built in 1253 in north German brick Gothic, one of the oldest and largest town halls in Germany. In the basement of the building is the Museum Junge Kunst with over 11,000 works from East and West Germany. The city's landmark, the Sankt Marienkirche, with its three fascinating 12 m high choir windows and the colorful medieval stained glass is one of the outstanding buildings of North German brick Gothic. After a short walk along the Gertraudenpark you will reach another building of impressive architecture: the Sankt Gertraud Church. The neo-Gothic brick basilica from the 19th century has housed the rescued art treasures of St. Mary's Church, which burned out in 1945, since 1980. The carved and gilded winged altar from 1489 is a particular treasure. The only Kleist museum in German-speaking countries is dedicated to the life and work of the Frankfurt (Oder) born poet Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811). The Viadrina Museum, the largest cultural and historical museum in East Brandenburg, is located a short distance away on the Oder promenade.

End your day with a leisurely stroll through Lennépark with its artificial waterfall, fountain and ponds.
