The church formed the central point of the town for 125 years until it was badly damaged in 1945. It then stood as a ruin in Letschin until it was torn down in the 1970s. The 37-metre-high church tower was left, and is now known as the Schinkelturm. It was made safe, refurbished and restored in 2002-2004.

Today, the ground floor of the tower houses a little exhibition about the church and the tower.

For inquiries about visits, go to Heimatstube Letschin .
